End of the season
It's all happening too quickly. The end of our group riding season is almost here. Tomorrow we will be heading over to the Sun Prairie Cyclo-cross races for some good "clean" fun. Make sure you have some water in your bottles to clear the muck off your cleats before riding back!

Saturday, August 25th
This weekend the ride is up in the air. We will either do our Martinsville loop or the River Road loop. Both are under 40 miles with the River Road loop being a bit flatter but longer. 7:30am rollout. We'll call it that morning.

Saturday August 11th
Wow, I can't believe how quickly summer is slipping by. August is almost half done and I know a lot of you had hopes of getting a century or metric century in this year. Well, here's your chance if you're looking to do one! The Coldane Bike Tour is this Saturday out of DeForest and starts at 7am. It's only $25 and the proceeds go to fighting autism. I will be there and I hope you can join me. If the weather has been too hot for you to get your miles in, this is the time to turn that around. It will be cool...chilly even. I plan on starting at 8am. Hope to see some of you there. Lunch is served after the ride!

Saturday the 3rd
This week we'll be doing the Spring Valley loop. It's one of my favorites and is HILLY! We'll head out Schneider to Enchanted Valley to Otto Kerl, KP to Table Bluff to Scherbel to Spring Valley to Schuman and back on Enchanted Valley. About 35 miles long. 7:30 am start. If it's raining or will start raining, the ride is off.

Saturday July 21st...Lodi Ride (note earlier start time)
Another round of heat means that we will be leaving for our ride earlier to get more miles in comfort. We will be doing the Lodi ride this week (40 miles with quite a few hills). We will leave Harbor at 6:30am this week. Bring two full water bottles!

Saturday ride
So the heat hasn't broken yet and I'm not sure how everyone is feeling. We'll still meet at 7:30, but will make the call on how far and what type of ride to do then. I'm still thinking 30-35 miles to keep it a bit easier. NO RIDE NEXT SATURDAY!

June 30th...it's a hot one!
With the heat, this one will be short and sweet. We'll work our way over to Old Sauk, will take a right at Timber Lane, Left on Old Sauk Pass, Left on Stagecoach, Right on P (go through Cross Plains on Church/P), Left on Hillpoint, Right on Enchanted Valley, Left on Schneider and back to Harbor. Not a long ride but it has some good hills! Under 30 miles total.

Saturday the 23rd. Riley Ride!
At 7:30am we'll roll out, heading for Riley. The cue sheet is a bit obscure since we'll be winding around to avoid some construction. Sorry if there are mistakes. The ride is about 35 miles long with some rolling hills.

No ride this Saturday
Sorry folks, there won't be a ride this Saturday. On June 9th we'll either do the Martinsville ride or River Road ride...depending upon the wind direction. Both are somewhat short--Martinsville is 28 miles or so and River Road is just under 40. We will roll out at 7:30am!

Saturday's ride (May 19th)
Heading North on River Rd. this week. We'll leave Harbor at 7:30am and will ride about 40 miles of rollers...this ride is one of our easier ones.

Cinco de Mayo
Looks like the weather may cooperate this weekend for a 7:30am rollout to finally do some hill repeats. Out to Old Sauk Pass...stay as long as you like getting some vertical in!

HILL REPEATS!
This Saturday, at 7:30am, we'll roll out of Harbor and make our way to Old Sauk Pass to do hill repeats. We will head out on Airport Rd and will have to climb Cleaveland hill once. You can stay out on Old Sauk as long as you like. I'll be out there giving tips for about 45 minutes before heading back to Harbor. If you're having difficulty with climbs, this is the day for you!
Hill Repeats are moved to next Saturday due to the crummy weather this Saturday (rain/snow in the morning). If the weather looks okay and a bit warmer come 9am, let's meet at Harbor at 9am for an easy 25-30mile loop.

Bad Luck
I can't believe our bad luck. In March it was in the 70's and 80's and now we get cold temps and rain. It's looking like rain this Saturday. I'll decide tomorrow if we'll ride but it doesn't look good. I may just put a "training tips" post up.
Next Saturday I'm not able to lead so we'll head out the Saturday following. I'm thinking it would be a good hill repeat workshop weekend! I'll keep everyone posted.
Okay, here's the scoop. I will be leading a ride out from my house at 9am if it isn't raining. This will be a 35 mile hilly route heading West to Spring Valley Road. We will be keeping a good clip and it will NOT be no drop. Coffee stop at Barriques in Middleton at the end. If you'd like to ride, please be at 5701 Bittersweet Place in Madison for a 9am sharp rollout. With wind and hills we'll average 16 mph but you should feel good riding 18-19 on flatter routes. Our next ride will be in two weeks and will be a hill repeat workout on Old Sauk Pass!

Yikes, we may have jumped the gun
Okay, so when it was in the 80's in March, I had hopes of getting the group together for regular rides on Saturday mornings come April. Now looking ahead, it's supposed to be in the mid 30's once again this Saturday morning. We rode last Saturday but ended up pretty chilled. We may have to postpone for another week...I'll decide in the next day or so. It's ideal to have it above 38 or 40...especially if someone flats. It's no fun changing a tube with frozen hands.
May have to call this one in the morning and see how cold it is. If we ride, it will most definitely be a tad later.

Minor Change in 3/31 Ride
Okay folks, looks like 7:30am will bring temps. in the mid 30's. I don't mind riding in that weather, however, I hate changing flats when it's that cold. Let's bump the start time to 9am instead. It may not be much warmer but a few degrees make a big difference. We'll still do the Martinsville loop.

First ride of the season as a group
Hello all and happy spring! We'll be heading out of Harbor at 7:30am Saturday, March 30th. Short ride to start. We'll be doing the Martinsville loop (check out the August 26th post for the cue sheet). Only about 25 miles will some hills. Please remember that this is NOT a no drop ride. We average about 17 mph...sometimes more. If rain is called for or winds above 25mph. we will not ride. From here on out, we'll have rides Saturdays at 7:30am, however, there will be some Saturdays that I won't be in town. Hope to see some of you on the rides!
